Having a seven year old girl and taking her first climb was inspiring and exciting for us. It was turning late already when we arrived in Pilila, Rizal. I had climbed Mt. Sembrano eight years ago (Sept. 2006) with my fellow UE Mountaineers. The trail remains fresh from my mind and I knew there are lots of forks before reaching the mangahan campsite. Safety and enjoyable climb was my primary concern though I’m prepared in my every climb. I didn’t push our night trek plan but plan B push through. We spent our night at Barangay Malaya hall the jump off for hiking Mt. Sembrano.

The next day we woke up very early, brought some food and started hiking. At first, Krisha Kayl was a little bit maarte (actually, the entire hike) though she had no problem taking the trail. We took the right trail after the last store then, a quick left turn which led us to a wrong trail. We got back on the right track and thanks to the local who accompanied us.

I’d noticed the trail changed before reaching the mangahan campsite. According to the lady at the registration area, the old trail was already closed few years ago. Luckily, we didn’t do night trekking.We also visited the small waterfalls near the mangahan campsite.

The kid was fast and energetic on our ascent even on the steep trail. Hiking is not a problem for her except from her tita (my girlfriend) who’s seemed exhausted on our pacing. We took a rest at the summit before the descent.

She can run fast on flat and steep terrain but her weakness was the descending part. She was a little bit anxious to get slip or fall so what I did was I carried her. We had fun on our short hike then we headed to Pangil, Laguna where another adventure awaits us.
