All seems good and
ready for an exploration but we ended up trekking to Ambon-ambon and Limutan
falls. My old hiking friend Peter Paccarangan,
Toper Buenaventura and new friends who I’ve met recently in Mt. Maculot joined our
party, PJ Castillo and Jenny. It was relatively easy over a nine kilometer rough
road trek from the Binukawan highway (jump off). The pristine water was cold. Variety of butterflies, Limatiks
(blood leeches) and snake were also seen.
Both falls are
surrounded by mountain range. Few local people of Binukawan explore the lush
green and picturesque mountains. Curiosity and being adventurous triggered me
to return after I visited the falls three years ago. According to my former guide, he already
conquered the highest peak. He also added that the vegetation was thick and the
trail was narrow and steep indeed while the summit is wide. The mountain
pointed as Mt. Natib by few local people but I doubted it. Based on my
research, Mt. Natib is way too far from Bagac. There’s also a resting place for
hunters in the heart of the forest called “kweba”. A traverse to Morong and
Olongapo is also possible. Soon I’ll get back here to conquer and explore the
untamed mountains.
