It was late Saturday
night when I picked up Ma’am Aby in Balayan then we headed back to Calatagan.
She got interested in my Ambil and especially Lubang Island plans. So, we
decided to cross the island via passenger boat from Calatagan Port to Lubang
Island on Sunday Morning. Sadly, there is no available trip going to Lubang
Island but Ambil island trip is available however the return trip was not
available on the next day (Monday). My mother told us that she has an
acquaintance in newly popular tourist destination in Calatagan called “Ang
Pulo” at Brgy. Kilitisan. Her acquaintance will tour us for free. That’s “free”
so tara lets! Libre e!
Ang Pulo Jump off is
15-20 minutes away from national highway in Brgy. Kilitisan. My mom’s
acquaintance named Berna waited for us. Ate Berna was a tour guide in Ang Pulo
and she’s already been there before it was declared two years ago “Ang Pulo”. In
the jump off, parking fee for tricycle is 25pesos while private vehicle is 50
pesos. Ate Berna gets a boatman to accompany us going to Ang Pulo. Before we
went to Ang Pulo, we should cross via Bamboo Craft or Boat. Bamboo craft or
boat maybe limited at a time. We used boat instead. I helped the boatman to
push the boat by using bamboo – “Isa na
akong bangkero. The boat was difficult to move
because the bamboo get stuck in the mud and low tide during that time though it
is fun and yet exhausting.
Upon reaching the Ang
Pulo, registration is required and fees are collected for only 100 pesos
whether you visit for a day or stay for an overnight.
The bridge is made up
of bamboo. The left direction will lead to a tower which can view the whole
island, Calatagan , Lian,Nasugbu, Occidental Mindoro and nearby island like
Ambil Island, lubang Island, etc.. The middle direction will lead to a resting
cottage, comfort room and camping ground. On the right direction is a bird
watching area. Ang Pulo is simply a Mangroves Island. It is home of different
species of mangroves. And also lush of fauna and flora. Mangroves has major
role in our biodiversity. During high tide, various fishes can be seen. We
leave the island after 1 hour visits.
