My life has never been the same

My first climb was in Mount Pulag. I had no idea what I was getting into. I was invited to join the adventure without having any prior climbing experience. I relied on friends' comments on what to expect and suggestions on what gear and clothing to bring in addition to the list we were given.
I remember feeling nauseated during the first hour of the climb. I was so out of shape. It was so cold and damp at night. And the early climb to the peak was almost unbearable because of the temperature at five degrees Celsius. I told myself never to believe a friend who says, "Don’t worry, you can handle it, it is not too difficult", ever again :).

Ambangeg tral in Mt. Pulag |
It was still dark when we reached the peak. And as I found myself exhausted, wet and freezing, waiting for the the sun to come up, I had this feeling of excitement building inside of me. I was expecting something grand, I saw photos of the sunrise and friends told me how beautiful it was up there. Until finally, I saw the skies turn pink, slowly seeing the majesty of God. The beauty presented before my eyes is beyond words and expectations. It surpassed my imagination, taking my breath away. Mt. Pulag is special to me.
8 The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy. - Psalms 65:8 | NIV
I reached a few more peaks after Mt. Pulag. In every climb I am humbled. Constantly in need of a helping hand, a lone branch, a rope, a solid rock and a trustworthy guide to lead me. How vulnerable a climber can be, I learned that life is always in God's hands. And my character continues to be molded by my mountain climbing.
1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; - Psalms 121:1-3 | NIV

Mt. Palay-palay (Pico de Loro) |
I remember the times when I was ready to give up in the middle of a climb, too hot and too steep. Those were the times when a hand would reach out to help me and a voice would tell me to keep on going. I owe my friends the life changing lessons I learned from pushing myself to go forward even when things get too painful. Perseverance, a word instilled in my heart, by people who continue to guide me and support me.
4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. - James 1:4 | NIV
I learned that the reward will always surpass my expectations. The blue skies, the peaceful winds, the laughter of friends and just being in the presence of the Almighty Creator in the midst of His creation.

5 They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty—and I will meditate on your wonderful works.6 They tell of the power of your awesome works—and I will proclaim your great deeds. - Psalms 145:5-6 | NIV
I am always thankful beyond words for the experience every climb offers me. My life has never been the same since that first mountain in Pulag.
18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. - Romans 8:18 | NIV
To God be the glory, honor, power and praise!!!
