Mt. Agad-agad |
Iligan City, Lanao del Norte
Moving time and Day(s): Aborted @200 MASL
13 October 2013
Fresh from our 2 days hike (D2K traverse) in Bukidnon, we headed straight to Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte. We visited 3 majestic waterfalls with Iligan blogger Kathleen and her sister Claire, and now friend. We agreed to hike mount Agad-agad, the highest point (490 MASL) in Iligan City, on the same day.
We met again at Jollibee in the town proper at 1830H then we headed to Pala-o market and took a jeep bound for Brgy. Puga-an. The fare from market to submarine was 8 pesos and travel took only for about 15 minutes. There are two jump-off located at Brgy. Puga-an: At submarine - a concrete bridge which submerges when the water in the river is too high while the other one starts at the hanging bridge that leads to the woods.
We started at around 2000H and took the submarine as our jump off. We passed through steep paved and rough road, then to a single file trail which regularly used by the local people. By 2050H, we arrived at the water source – this is commonly used by the community.
While resting and fetching some water, a local who’s living near the water source asked us if we leave 2 valid ID’s at the barangay. We’ve been warned by this people that some unidentified and unfamiliar faces were passing through the area coming from the other side of the mountain (town). The area was in heightened alert for almost 2 weeks. Kathleen who speaks bisaya dialect acted as our translator. They allowed us to continue however, we should be responsible for ourselves – “climb at our own risk”. We decided to abort our climb and spend our night at the town.

“Kung meron day hike meron din night hike”. It was a relaxing very short hike and we had fun in our first day in Iligan City.
Note: Please bring 2 valid id's then register and left the id's at the barangay office before proceeding to your climb.
